These instruction sets are not meant to teach you how to perform your Waza.  They are to be used as guides to assist you with your practice.  Please do not attempt to learn a new Waza without instructor supervision. 

 

Waza #1  on the 45, Pinan influence

1.    Look left, step right foot forward, set up for left shuto
2.    Pivot 45 degrees, Right open hand block and left shuto strike
3.    Left mae geri returning foot
4.    Right punch, left punch
5.    Step back with left foot into shizentai dachi
6.    Right down block


Waza #2  Naihanchi influence

1.    Step back 90 degrees with the left foot into naihanchi dachi, eyes stay forward, while parrying with the left hand.
2.    Right straight punch
3.    Body change to forward facing, not moving feet just shifting them forward facing in a back stance.
4.    Right mae geri stepping forward.
5.    Parry down with left hand and double strike as in Naihanchi
6.    Step back with the right foot into shizentai dachi
7.    Left down block


Waza #3 on the 45, Pinan influence

1.    Look left, step right foot forward, set up for shuto
2.    Pivot 45 degrees right open hand block, left shuto strike
3.    Right spoon kick stepping forward
4.    Left punch, right punch
5.    Step back with the left foot into shizentai dachi
6.    Right down block

 
Waza #4 on the 45, Naihanchi influence

1.    Step back with left foot into a back stance
2.    Block cross body with right handed down block. Left Hand, open, pulls back to cover at chest level.
3.    Front kick off right foot stepping forward.
4.    Naihanchi style double block, right hand in middle block position
5.    Step back with left foot into shizentai dachi
6.    Left down block


Waza #5 on the 45, Naihanchi influence

1.    Step forward with right foot keeping right foot up, do not touch down to floor yet
2.    Bring hands together, left hand open augmenting the right hand in a fist in the center of the open hand.
3.    Side kick (blade) out and set right foot down in Naihanchi dachi on 45 degree angle.
4.    Double strike to the right as in Naihanchi.
5.    Reach with both hand and throw to the left almost kneeling on the right knee.  You should be facing 90 degrees to the left at this point.  Right hand should be almost straight out in front of you at the 90 degree angle. Left hand in pull back position.
6.    Punch left, punch right
7.    Step up and back with left leg into shizentai dachi
8.    Right down block


Waza #6  on the 45  Pinan Yandon

1.  Look left, step right foot forward, set up for left shuto
2.  Pivot 90 degrees, right open hand block, left shuto strike.
3.  Right elbow strike meeting left arm with left hand open, then pivot to the right facing forward
4.  Strike to the neck with Right shuto.
5.  Left reverse punch, cross body.
6.  Step back with the right foot
7.  Left down block


Waza #7  Right, on the 45

1.    Look right 45 degrees, set up for left open hand block followed by right shuto strike.
2.    Step ahead with left foot and bring the right foot in front for kosa dachi at a 45 degree angle
3.    Left open hand block, right shuto (step 1)
4.    Reach both hands forward at shoulder level and grab
5.    As you pull in, do a left spoon kick, stepping forward
6.    Bring your right foot behind left into kosa dachi
7.    Double hook punch. Location depends on opponents position. Set up for left down block
8.    Pivot to the right stepping behind with the right foot into shizentai dachi, you are now facing 180 from where you began.


Waza #7 by compass

1.    Look northeast, set up for left open hand block followed by right shuto strike.
2.    Step ahead with left foot and bring the right foot in front for kosu dachi, facing northeast
3.    Left open hand block, right shuto (step 1)
4.    Reach both hands forward at shoulder level and grab
5.    As you pull, do a left downward spoon thrust kick, stepping forward
6.    Bring your right foot behind left into kosa dachi
7.    Double hook punch. Location depends on opponets position. Set up for left down block
8.    Pivot to the right stepping behind with the right foot into shizentai dachi, now facing south.


Waza #8  

1.    Step back 90 degrees with the left foot into Naihanchi dachi, eyes stay forward, while parrying with the left hand
2.    Both hands should then rest at obi height, fisted palms facing the body, slightly in front and against the hips.
3.    While continuing to look over your right shoulder turn to the left and do a right back kick
4.    Returning the right leg to place in front and crossing the left foot to set up for a 180 degree turn, head snapping to the left to look forward once again
5.    Set up for a left shuto as you turn and execute shuto once you have set your stance.
6.    Set up for right down block
7.    Step back with left foot and down block


Waza #9 on the 45  Naihanchi influence

1.    Head snap to the left 45 degrees
2.    Step right foot forward
3.    With the left hand, guide the attacking punch past your body.
4.    Bring left foot in front to kosa dachi
5.    With the left hand under your right elbow, right forearm strike to the opponents punching arm.
6.    As in Naihanchi series lift the right leg while setting up for a double strike (left hand horizontal palm down and right hand vertical as for a double bone block)
7.    Pivot 30 degrees to the left as you bring the right leg across your body, not crossing the left leg
8.    Strike to the left
9.    Set right leg down to the right in Naihanchi stance
10.      Strike right
11.      Set up for left down block
12.      Step right leg back in to shizentai dachi
13.      Left down block


Waza #10 on the 45, Pinan Godan and Passai Influence

1.    Head snap to the left 45 degrees
2.    Double crane bock at just above waist height
3.    Right front kick stepping forward
4.    Sinking into jigotai dachi
5.    Your body is facing 135 degrees from the beginning stance
6.    Bring right fist up to the ear for an elbow strike, palm facing forward with pinky at the top
7.    Step through with your right foot crossing over your left keeping your right hand at shoulder level
8.    Set up for a left down block, pivot left foot
9.    Turning to your left until you return to the 45 degree stance
10.     Left down block


Waza #11 on the 45, Naihanchi Influence

1.    Look left, step with right foot forward body changing to 45 degrees left.
2.    Double high block
3.    Double fist drag down, palms facing you, ending with arms at 45 degree from the body elbows tight to the body
4.    Step back with the left foot into Naihanchi dachi (body is now facing 135 degrees, but head is still facing the 45)
5.    Left hand parrys to near the left shoulder while right hand does a knife hand strike (palm down) straight from the shoulder to the 45.
6.    Step back with the right foot into shizentai dachi and left down block.


Waza #12   Right, on the 45,  Pinan Godan and Passai Influence

1.    Look right, step forward with the left foot body changing to the right 45 degrees.  
2.    Bring right knee up while doing a double crane block.
3.    Step forward with the right foot (still on the 45) and bring left foot up behind right into kosa dachi.
4.    Double strike - left on bottom in a tate tzuki with a seiken tzuki on top.
5.    Step back with the right foot into jigotai dachi (body now at 135 degree to the right head still at the 45)
6.    Arm break by shooting left hand through like a down block with right hand coming up near the ear with palm out, pink up.
7.    Step back with the left foot into shizentai dachi and down block (ending facing 45 degrees right)


Waza #13  on the 45

1.    Step back with the left foot into back stance, right back fist, left hand in pull back position.
2.    Step back with right foot (now at 45 degrees right) into jigotai dachi stacking at the right hip with right on bottom and left on top.  This should also look like an empi strike as it goes to the hip.
3.    Open left hand and punch over the top of open hand quickly pulling back.
4.    Step forward with the right foot turning 90 degrees from starting position.
5.    Bring open left hand out to the left, up and then down in front while bringing fisted right hand from below up.  The left should pass inside the right.  This is simulating a guillotine with the left hand being behind the head and the right under the chin.
6.    Step back with the left foot into shizentai dachi and right down block.


Waza #14   on the 90

1.    Look left, step forward with the right turning 90 degrees to the left.
2.    Left Shuto
3.    Step back with the left foot into jigotai dachi (body is now facing 180 degrees to the left but head still facing 90 degrees)
4.    Arm break with left hand in front of the body palm down chest height, right arm out as in "serving pizza" palm up.
5.    Turn left foot and step across with right going down into a lunge (facing 270 degrees from start)
6.    Stand up and continue to turn to the left 180 degrees, left shuto.
7.    Enter and Double "X"  downward block.
8.    Step back with the right into shizentai dachi and left down block


Waza #15  on the 45, Naihanchi influence

1.    Look left 45 degrees, step forward with the right foot and turn left (body facing 135 degrees to the left, head facing 45) then bring right foot up behind left into kosa dachi
2.    Bring fisted hands up in front of the body knuckles facing each other and plams down.
3.    Step out left into Naihanchi dachi
4.    Double strike left and then right as in Naihanchi
5.    Step left foot in front of right into kosa dachi.
6.    Then double strike forward as in Naihanchi
7.    Pick up right knee.
8.    Double strike left.
9.    Set right foot down
10.    Double strike right
11.    Step back with right into shizentai dachi and left down block
