Mr. Buelow started studying karate in December of 1998 at the ripe old age of 47 years. He was awarded his shodan in June of 2008 by Sensei Wall.
Mr. Buelow hosts the Sunday morning open mat at the dojo from 0730 to 0900. Come in and work on whatever you want.
He focuses on the fundamentals and avoids the intricate and showy. He also studies the literature of martial arts. He has donated some of the best books he's read to the dojo's library. Talk to Sensei Wall about borrowing any book that interests you.
When Mr. Buelow is not at the dojo or at work, he can often be found at the Japanese Friendship Garden in downtown Phoenix, where he is a volunteer gardener and a tour guide, or struggling to play his shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute).
