Girls on Guard92% of rapes were committed by “known” assailants.  This includes spouses & boyfriends, but more than half are acquaintances. Unfortunately, one cannot identify an acquaintance rapist on the basis of his appearance. He could be anyone, from a classmate, a co-worker, a boyfriend, or just the guy next door. While acquaintance rapists cannot be identified by their appearance, they try to win the confidence and trust of their victims and increase the victim's vulnerability. The acquaintance rapist increases the victim's vulnerability by manipulating her into a situation where she will be alone with him. This can be achieved by being alone with her at her or his residence, office, or in a car.

In our “Girls on Guard” course we teach you to defend yourself with varying degrees of threat.  Most attackers will break off if you show that you will resist.

This course is based on the Go To People Principle - how to get away from a threat and back to a safe environment.  The skills we will teach you will be applicable in many social predicaments, not just in a sexual assault situation.  How to handle ‘crowding’ and unwanted hugs are just a couple of skills you’ll leave with.

Classes are 3 hours.  Call for dates available at our location or you can call us to set up your own class.  Minimum of 10 students required.  Cost is $40 per student.
