Mr. Burke began his training at age 4 in traditional Tae Kwon Do. Under Master Larry Ammons in San Bernardino California. By 17 he had obtained high ranks in several disciplines:
1st Degree Black Belt (Taegeuk Tae Kwon Do, California Taekwondo Association ) 1st Gup (Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do, Central Michigan Tang Soo Do ) 1st Gup (American Tae Kwon Do, World Taekwondo Federation ).
After graduating high school, Mr. Burke entered the United States Air Force, joining a combat civil engineering group called RED HORSE. During his 6 year run with the military, Mr. Burke continued his training, earned his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Dan in Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do (King's Tang Soo Do/Soo Bahk Do), as well as a 1st Gup in Kempo (Panhandle School of Self Defense).
In 1995 Mr. Burke became an instructor, opening a Tang Soo Do studio while stationed in Florida. Teaching traditional Tang Soo Do, Mr. Burke's school swept the local tournament circuit. Mr. Burke was named the Regional Coach Champion for the South Eastern region in 1996. In 1996-1997, Mr. Burke was given the rare opportunity to train the Air Force Olympic team as an assistant Olympic coach under Master Chae Hook Song.
Mr. Burke's military career then took him to Montana. While there, he opened a Tang Soo Do studio, focusing on traditional training. This was not only the sole Tang Soo Do studio in the state; it was one of two schools within 200 miles that taught martial arts.
After leaving the military, Mr. Burke's life brought him to Phoenix. In 2008 Mr. Burke began studying Matsamura Seito Shorin Ryu, being accepted into the system as a 3th Degree Black Belt by Sensei Mike Wall.
