Sandra Jovanovic began training with Sensei Wall in the style of Shuri Ryu at age 3.  She transitioned through the kyu ranks into the style of Ryu Te Ren Mei and most recently to Matsumura Seito.  Sandra was accepted into the Seito system as a Nidan.  Her black belt promotions are as follows:

Shodan: December 2001
Nidan: March 2004
Sandan: September 2009

She also holds a Shodan under Hanshi Bruce Heilman in the weapons system of Okinawan Kenpo Kobudo that she received in August of 2003.

Several people ask how Sandra got involved, but it was actually because of her older brother Sasha, who is also a Sandan with Mr. Wall.  Through the years Sasha has motivated Sandra and significantly influenced her training.  They make a great brother-sister team!

Sandra is an avid competitor and began competing at age 8.  She has won numerous National and World Championships.  She is a very decorated competitor and in 2005 was awarded the Presidential Sports Award for Karate by former President George W. Bush.

Sandra began assisting with classes at the dojo at age 12 and teaching shortly after.  Her passion is weapons, but she also loves being able to help and hopes that every student learns something every single class.  She enjoys teaching people of all ages and hopes to make a difference in the people’s lives she touches.  Karate can change your life, create the fundamental building blocks for children and make adults more well rounded!
