Mr. Sangiorgio was born in Brooklyn, New York.  He began his Self Defense training as an amateur boxer at a local boxing gym on Long Island where he boxed competitively for about 1 ½ years before switching to martial arts.  His martial arts training began under the private tutelage of a Black Belt from a local Martial Arts School.  However after training for about 1 ½ years, life got in the way.  Mr. Sangiorgio and his wife re-located to Phoenix, Arizona in late 1986.  It was not until shortly after 9/11 that Peter once more began serious training.  In December 2001 Mr. Sangiorgio met his current Teacher Sensei Mike Wall.  At the time Sensei Wall was under the Ryu Te Ren Mei system of Taika Seiyu Oyata.

In October of 2005 Sensei Wall switched systems to the current system of Matsumura Seito Shorin Ryu under the direction of Sensei Phillip Koeppel.  Mr. Sangiorgio embraced the new system and has been promoted by Sensei Wall as follows:

   1. First Degree Black Belt – May 05
   2. Second Degree Black Belt – June 06
   3. Third Degree Black Belt – May 08

Peter teaches a cardio-kick boxing class every Saturday morning along with an intermediate Adult Class. The principles that are stressed in these classes are the importance of basics and fundamentals while placing an emphasis on training with intensity to improve both physical and mental toughness.  Mr. Sangiorgio consistently trains and continues his martial arts education by attending as many of Mr. Koeppel and Mr. John Hutchroft’s seminars as he can.

Peter is a father of three.  His two sons currently train at the Paradise Valley School of Karate.  Peter Jr. and Nicolas are second and third degree brown belts respectively.
