It's a great dojo! I haven't been there in years due to moving however, when I was younger I loved it there. They teach you respect, discipline, and control. I remember all the great times I had there. I recommend everyone should at least try it out if you're thinking about it. Sensei Wall is a great sensei and person overall. Will help you learn what you need to protect yourself.
My kids and I trained at Paradise Valley School of Karate for many years. My son and I earned black belts and my daughter earned brown. Sensei Mike Wall is an outstanding teacher. We all learned so much and had a lot of fun. Sensei Wall can teach adults and excels at teaching kids. I strongly recommend PVSK and Sensei wall to everyone. Truly one of the best dojos in town. Regardless of your age or your martial arts goals Sensei Wall is outstanding!
My sister and I have been at this dojo for over 7 years. Recently my father joined, Mile Wall makes learning how to defend yourself fun for the entire family. He absolutely excels at teaching anyone. You can start at 3 years old or 60 years old it doesn't matter. Not only does Mike Wall teach martial arts he teaches discipline and respect. Every thing about this dojo is amazing. Sensei Mike Wall offers self-defense, sport, and fitness for adults and children. Children are taught self-defense appropriate for their age, as well as respect, while having fun, at the same time. Adults learn the self-defense methods of Okinawa's warrior class, while increasing their physical fitness; any Okinawan or Japanese karate stylist would love training at Paradise Valley School of Karate.
It's simple. This team is incredible! We've been with PVK going on 6 years now and I'm excited to say we're part of the PVK family. Give yourself some time, and you will be astounded at how much you improve! You’ll find that our very experienced martial arts instructors, are trained to keep their teaching simple. So even the most uncoordinated person will develop ‘ninja-like’ skills! Come see for yourself!
Truthfully, the journey to black belt is an individual one. Everyone can progress at a different pace. There is no judgement on students for how long it does take. What we can tell you, is that it is SO WORTHWHILE!
The self defense skills you will master can truly be life-saving!
However, the other benefits of striving for black belt, like perseverance, never giving up, commitment and self discipline lead to life-long success.
We feel that there is a certain degree of maturity that needs to be attained to have a Black Belt. We also feel that your first black belt is the most memorable experience. If it is given too young, it’s truly not appreciated enough. We generally promote to black belt starting at 14 or 15. For our young kids, they will be able to earn belts on a regular basis to be able to work on their short and long term goals. For adults, they can expect it to take about 4 years of training.
